The hotel staff, the room service, the location across the street from Waikiki beach, the surrounding amenities within walking distance, everything was amazing. The property is very beautiful and updated. We had a harbor front room that was large with the nicest bathroom I’ve ever seen in a hotel room. The hotel is located right on the harbor between two beaches, one of which is a giant park where you can swim, surf, watch surfers, etc. Their pool was very nice with a few cabanas over looks the harbor and you see the great views mentioned above.

FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

Honolulu is a place you can make as busy or as relaxing as you want. Ample food options, beautiful beaches and incredible sunsets to ensure with friends and family. Shopping and discovering both the history and the culture of the area make for a well-rounded destination no matter your interests. Worth while exploring the island too if you have the chance. There are plenty of day tours available that take in some incredible sites up the east coast of the island and around the north shore. Definitely a destination that you can return to time and time again.

Honolulu is a big-ish city, it has a big mall, lots of tall buildings, government buildings, homeless people, etc... If you are looking for a slower more relaxed vacation with fewer people and buildings, look at the other islands, or at least don't stay in Honolulu/Waikiki. On the other hand, there are a lot of great little food places and more than their fair share of brew pubs.

This hotel was amazing. It has the best view in the city of Diamond Head. It is steps from the beach, has a lovely restaurant and pool and a modern, feel-good lobby area. We loved the free yoga class and lei making workshop. We did both twice! The staff were all helpful and friendly and a lovely older gentleman at the valet thanked us for our loyalty, as we had stayed at the hotel twice that month (at the start and end of our Hawaii tour). The hotel was definitely as good as the other big names in the area, but at a much more affordable price.

Two particularly helpful staff - Brayden and Sarah.. So warm, friendly and genuinely helpful. The hotel is cosy, has a Hawaiian feel about it as opposed to your typical modern hotel chains. It felt very homely. Super comfortable, good use of space in the room, loved the kitchenette with hot plates a microwave and fridge which came in very handy and helped to cut costs. Last but not least, a fantastic location right in the heart of Waikiki - close to everything and everywhere. I will definitely return next time.

Will at the front desk is a hero - he immediately became our best friend on the island and pointed us toward the best hidden gems for food and helped us get bus passes for cheap transit. Hotel is in a great location easily walkable to Waikiki Beach, the Honolulu Zoo, lots of good food and shopping, and multiple bus stops for getting around outside Waikiki. Hotel room had a new/powerful air conditioner, a spacious shower, fridge, private balcony, and a cute little breakfast nook table with two small stools.

When we arrived the hotel gave us a really nice room with a beautiful view and left a little anniversary gift. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, our room was cleaned nicely during room service. One bedroom apartment was really spacious and has a full kitchen so you can cook. Location is great it’s on the quieter side of Waikiki I guess, there is a car rental next door so it was really handy. Parking was $25 for 24 hours which was cheaper than other hotels I think. Would 100% stay here again.

The staff was amazing! Beach chair rentals and beach towels were easy to check out and very convenient. We saw two adult and one young monk seals on the beach behind the hotel, just relaxing on the beach. The hotel was close to Waikiki (maybe 5 minute walk, if that) but not crowded and outside of the loud nightlife. Very close to the zoo, convenient parking if you rent a car. The views from the room were of the ocean AND the mountains. It exceeded ALL of our expectations.

I and my coworker had a wonderful stay at the Sheraton Waikiki. The staff was great as well as the location and newly renovated room! My only complaint is that the aloholic drinks were not very good especially for what the hotel charged for, $17.00 for a cup full of ice and absolutely minimal alcohol... That was a major downfall, and the same goes for their adjacent property The Royal Hawaiian Hotel! Cocktails were a waste of money!

While we stayed many famous hotels at Honolulu in this time, Halekulani was the best one in various points.(e.g. good locations/view/facilities/amenities/restaurants/customer services and so on in both public spaces and guest rooms.) I was not able to find any negative points about this hotel, so, now I'm sure that it deserves its price which is expensive more or less compared with others in the same area.

As far as the Honolulu resorts go, this one delivered in almost all aspects. It is located in the best part of town, with plenty of amenities and some of the best bars and restaurants in the vicinity. Our room was in fact a full studio with a kitchen, with plenty of space. Honolulu is not good value for money in general, but you will struggle to find a better located hotel for the same amount.

The Banyan Hotel is very well-located, with very nice and helpful staff. The room is spacious, and quiet. The price / quality is I believe good for Honolulu. Do not expect something exceptional, it's, like most accommodations in Hawaii, old and worn out. But the service was good, and the room was fine to get some good rest, in a very convenient location.

Nothing. This hotel is not what it seems from information online. To say it is a luxurious upscale beachfront property is misleading. It is not directly on the beach and is surrounded on all sides by other buildings. The ocean view is in fact a slither of ocean through the surrounding buildings and our rooms faced onto a parking lot.
